CHAPTER 227.

An act to incorporate the Woodsborough Turnpike Road
Company.

CHAP. 227.

Passed March

4, 1847.

WHEREAS, by an act entitled, an act to incorporate the
Frederick and Woodsborough Turnpike Road Company,
passed at December session, eighteen hundred and thirty-
one, chapter fifty-four, a company was incorporated
with power to construct a turnpike road from the city of
Frederick to the town of Woodsborough, in Frederick
county; and whereas, by the said act, the said company
was required to commence the said work within two
years, and to complete the same within five years from
the passage of the said act, otherwise the right of said
company to said road to revert to the State of Maryland ;
and whereas, by an act entitled, a supplement to the act
entitled, an act to incorporate the Frederick and Woods-
borough Turnpike Road Company passed at December

session, eighteen hundred and thirty-two, chapter one
hundred and eighty-eight, power was given to the said
company to construct a portion oi the said road mention-
ed in the original act of eighteen hundred and thirty-one ;
and whereas, the said company did, by virtue of the said
supplement, open and construct the said portion of the
said road, and have ever since, and do now enjoy the pri-
vileges and immunities thereof; and whereas, it is now
desired that the remaining portion of said road from the
bridge over the Monocacy to the town of Woodsborough
as aforesaid, shall be opened and continued by a new
and independent company, the same having been aban-
doned and reverted to the State of Maryland, not having
been completed within the time fixed by the first men-
tioned act — Therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new and independent company be,
and the same is hereby incorporated, by the name and

style of the Woodsborough Turnpike Road Company,
and that the said company is hereby invested with all
the powers, privileges, rights and immunities so far as
the same regards that portion of the road which lies be-
tween the Monocacy bridge and the town of Woodsbo-
rough, which were granted to, conferred upon, and vested
in the Frederick and Woodsborough Turnpike Road
Company, by the act of eighteen hundred and thirty-one,
chapter fifty-four, herein referred to.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the capital stock of
said company, shall be twenty thousand dollars, in shares
of twenty dollars each.
