CHAPTER 189.
An act to alter and amend the twelfth section of the act
entitled, an act to incorporate the Planters' Mutual In-
surance Company of Washington County, passed at
December session, eighteen hundred and forty-five,
chapter one hundred and sixty-Jive.

Preamble.
|
WHEREAS, the twelfth section of said act forbids the
issuing of any policy by said corporation, until the pro-
perty insured shall amount to three hundred thousand
dollars — Therefore,
|
|
|
May issue po-
licies.
|
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That if property to the amount of one hundred thousand
dollars shall be insured, it shall and may be lawful for
said corporation to issue policies under said act, anything
to the contrary notwithstanding in said twelfth section
of said act.

An act for the benefit of Henry Irwin, of the City of
Baltimore.
|
|
|
Preamble.
|
WHEREAS, it is represented to this General Assembly,
that Henry Irwin, of the city of Baltimore, is desirous
of introducing into this State from the State of Virginia,
two negro slaves for life, namely: negro woman Rachel
Wright, aged about thirty years, and her daughter Ella,
aged about seven years — Therefore,
|

May bring into
the state.
|
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That said Henry Irwin is hereby authorised and em-
powered to introduce into this State, from the State of
Virginia, said negro slaves Rachel and Ella; provided,
he shall comply with the provisions of the act of eigh-
teen hundred and thirty-nine, chapter fifteen.
