1846.

CHAPTER 185.

An act to incorporate the Ringgold Infantry.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Thomas P. Chiffelle, Willis Hollings-
worth, H. Wilson Harris, Granville S. Oldfield, junior,
Israel Cohen, George B. Armstrong and Frank B. Loney,
and others, who now are, or may hereafter become mem-
bers of said corps, and their successors be, and they are
hereby constituted and created a body politic and corpo-
rate, by the name of the Ringgold Infantry, and by that
name shall have perpetual succession, with all the facul-
ties and liabilties of a corporation, and may acquire by
devise, bequest or otherwise, and hold chattels and real
estate, and the same at pleasure dispose of, transfer or
alienate in such manner as they may think proper; pro-
vided, that the value of such acquisitions, at any time
held, other than that which they may invest in erecting
and completing an armory and meeting room, for the
protection and preservation of their arms, equipments and
munitions of war, shall not exceed the sum of five thou-
sand dollars, and may have and use, and at discretion
change a common seal; may establish a constitution, or-
dain by-laws, rules and regulations for said corporate
body, such as they may deem proper, not inconsistent
with this act, or the constitution of this State, or of the
United States.

CHAP. 185.

Passed March
5, 1947.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act
shall be so construed as to authorise the said corporation
to issue any note, token, scrip, device or other evidence
of debt to be used as currency.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the Legislature re-
serves to itself the right, at its pleasure, to alter or annul
this act of incorporation.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this act shall be a
public act, and shall be in force from and after its accep-
tance by the members of the corps, at a special meeting
thereof, called in pursuance of ils charter.
