CHAP. 184.

May make
by-laws.

fore all or any judges, officers or persons, in all and sin-
gular, any actions, matters or demands whatever.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That it shall and may be
lawful for the said corporation to make by-laws, and
have a common seal for their use, and the same, at their
will and pleasure, to change, alter and make anew, from
time to time, as they may think best, and shall in general,
have and exercise all such rights, powers, privileges and
immunities as by law are incident or necessary to corpo-
rations, and may be necessary to the corporation herein
constituted, to enable its members to exercise all things
concerning the design of this corporation for the relief
of the sick and distressed, and for the promotion of their
benevolent purposes generally.

Permission of

state to be ob-
tained.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the funds and estate
of the corporation shall not at any time be divided or
distributed amongst the members, ot diverted from the
purposes completed by its formation, without the per-
mission of the General Assembly of Maryland first had
and obtained.

In force for
50 years.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That this act of incorpora-
tion shall continue and exist for fifty years from its pas-
sage, unless the General Assembly of Maryland should
alter, amend or annul it, which right is reserved to the
Legislature to exercise at pleasure.

Issues forbid.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That nothing in this »ct
shall be so taken or construed as to allow the said cor-
poration to issue any note, token, scrip or device to be
used as a currency.


CHAPTER 184.

Passed March
5, 1847.

An act to change the name of Thomas Didymus Grim, of
Washington County, lo Thomas Didymus Grey Grim,
and to confirm, his acts as Justice of the Peace, done and
performed under the name of Thomas Didymus Grim.

Name changed.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the name of Thomas Didymus Grim, of
Washington counly be, and is hereby changed to Thomas
Didymus Grey Grim, and by that name, to sue and be
sued, in any court of law or equity.

Confirmed.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That all the official acts of
the said Grim as justice of the peace, done and performed
under the name of Thomas Didymus Grim be, and the
same are hereby confirmed.
