THOMAS G. PRATT, ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR.

1846.

State and county taxes in Cecil county be, and he
is hereby authorised to collect any and all taxes or balan-
ces of taxes due to him and now remaining unpaid, for
the several years in which he was collector as aforesaid
in said county, in the same manner, and with the same
privileges and powers he could or might have done with-
in the time limited by law.

CHAP. 136.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Joseph S.
Wingate, before he proceeds to collect, under and by vir-
tue of this act, shall make out and deliver to the person
or persons from whom any taxes or balances of taxes
may be demanded, an account of the taxes or balances
of taxes due from such person or persons, and if the
amount claimed be disputed by the parly, shall annex an
affidavit that the same is due and unpaid.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from its passage, and continue in force until the
first day of June, eighteen hundred and forty-eight.


CHAPTER 136.

Effect from
passage.

An act to provide for the repairing a Causeway, and for
erecting a Bridge over Hunting Creek Run, in Calvert
County.

Passed Feb.
24, 1847.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the levy court of Calvert county, are
hereby authorised and empowered to cause the Cause-
way to be repaired, where the public road now passes
over the lower lands at Hunting creek, on the road lead-
ing from Lower Marlborough to Prince Fredericktown,
upon such terms and mode as they shall deem most ad-
vantageous for the public interest.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the powers vested in
the levy court in the foregoing section, are hereby vested
in them, at their discretion, to cause to be erected a good
and substantial Bridge over the run of Hunting creek,
where the public road now cross, leading from Lower
Marlborough to Prince Fredericktown; provided, they
shall deem the erection of a Bridge necessary for the
public convenience.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the levy court of
Calvert county be, and they are hereby authorised, in
their discretion, to levy on the assessable property of said
