CHAP. 47.

CHAPTER 46.

An act entitled, an act to repeal the act of December ses-
sion eighteen hundred and forty-two, chapter two hun-
dred and thirty-three, and its several supplements, re-
lating to the classification of the business of Washing-
ton County Court.

Repealed.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act, the act
passed at December session eighteen hundred and forty-
two, chapter two hundred and thirty-three, and its sev-
eral supplements, be, and the same are hereby repealed.

CHAPTER 47.

An act to improve a part of Washington Street in the
town of Cumberland.

Mayor and
Councilmen to
act.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the Mayor and Councilmen of the town of Cum-
berland, shall have power and are hereby required,
when requested in writing by the owners of a majority
of the front feet of the property on that part of Washing-
ton street lying between Spruce alley and Prospect street
at the west corner of the public ground on the west side
of Wills creek in the town of Cumberland, to cause the
same to be improved, regraded and repaved, so that the
grade of said Washington street may run westward from
said Prospect street, at a descending grade of not less
than six inches to one hundred feet, to such point as may
be found necessary so as to arrive at a proper grade at
Spruce alley, and to levy the expense thereof on the pro-
perty binding on the said Washington street agreeable
to the extent of lots on the said street, so improved, re-
graded, and repaved, and to collect the expense of re-
grading, repaying and improving the same, in the man-
ner that the mayor and councilmen are now by law au-
thorised to collect any sum or sums of money for the
purpose of grading, paving or otherwise improving the
streets, lanes, or alleys or either of them, in said town.
