Thomas W. Clagett, of Prince George's county, be
changed to Susan Guiger Harry Clagett, and that from
and after the passage of this act, she shall be known and
called by the name of Susan Guiger Harry Clagett.

CHAP. 317.

An act to provide for making a Judgment Index for
Washington County Court.

5, 1846.

WHEREAS, the present mode of indexing judgments by
the clerk of Washington county court, is in the name of
the first named defendant on the record, and judgments
superseded are not in any manner indexed against the
superseders in said judgments, which is calculated to in-
jure purchasers and disturb titles, to remedy which,

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That from and after the passage of this act,
whenever a judgment is rendered in said court, it shall
be the duty of the clerk of said court to enter upon his
index, to be kept for that purpose, the names of all the
defendants against whom said judgments have been ren-
dered.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That whenever a judg-
ment rendered in said court, shall be superseded, it shall
be the duty of the clerk of said court to index the names
of all persons superseding the same.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the clerk of said
court he, and he is hereby authorised and directed to in-
dex all judgments standing open on the docket of said
court for twelve years last past, in the names of all the
persons against whom said judgments have been render-
ed, and for doing the fame shall receive such compensat-
tion as the board of commissioners of Washington county
shall deem proper and right; and said commissioners
are hereby authorised to levy a lax upon the assessable
property of the county, a sum sufficient for this purpose.
