LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAP. 316.

bert Wilson, be and he is hereby authorised and direct-
ed, to appropriate the proceeds of the personal estate of
the said Robert Wilson, which may remain after the pay-
ment of his debts, or so much thereof as may be necessa-
ry, towards purchasing the said negro Perre from the
heirs or legal representatives of the late Matthew Tilgh-
man, deceased; and the said Christopher Baxter be, and
he is hereby authorised and empowered to manumit and
set free the said negro Perre.

Subject to all
laws, &c.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Perre, when
he shall become free, shall be subject to all the laws now
in force, or which may hereafter be in force, against free
negroes and mulattoes residing in this State.

CHAPTER 315.

Passed Mar.
6, 1846.

An act to allow Milton Welch further time to complete
his collections.

Authorised to
collect.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Milton Welch, late collector of the
third collection district of Howard District, be and he is
hereby authorised and empowered to collect any tax or
balances of tax, now remaining due and uncollected by
him in the district aforesaid, in the same manner and
with the same power and privileges as are now allowed
by the existing laws, in said cases made and provided.

Made affidavit.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Milton Welch
shall in all cases, before he proceeds to collect said taxes,
make affidavit before a justice of the peace of Howard
District, that the said taxes are due, and that he has not
received the same or any part thereof, other than the
credit given.

In force 1 year.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this law shall be in
force one year from the passage thereof, and no longer.

CHAPTER 316.

Passed Mar.
6, 1846.

An act to change the name of Ann Elizabeth Clagett,
daughter of Thomas W. Clagett, of Prince George's
County, to Susan Guiger Harry Clagett.

Name changed.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the name of Ann Elizabeth Clagett, daughter of
