act, that then it may and shall be lawful for said court to
institute such legal proceedings against said commis-
sioners as they may deem necessary, to carry into effect
the provisions of this act.

CHAP. 208.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That all acts or parts of

acts inconsistent with this act, be and the same are here-
by repealed.

CHAPTER 208.

Repealed.

An act directing the commissioners of Somerset County to
publish annually a correct statement of their Receipts
and Expenditures.

2, 1846.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the commissioners of Somerset County
shall publish annually a fair full and accurate statement
of all receipts and expenditures, of the twelve months
next preceding the closing of the annual levy by said
commissioners, in a paper printed in Princess Ann, giv-
ing said statement not less than three insertions in each
paper, under the penalty of the forfeiture of the pay of
the members belonging to the board of commissioners in
said county, during the twelve months aforesaid, in case
of their failure to make such publication.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That said statement shall
designate as far as practicable, stating with reference to
the following particulars and expenditures or allowances,
the aggregate amount of each of them separately; the
pay of each of the commissioners, the pay of the clerk,
attorney and other person or persons in their service,
fees paid for legal service and advice, fees and allowan-
ces to public officers, distinguishing those officers sepa-
rately, all charges connected with the holding of courts,
stating how much thereof on account of jurors, and how
much on account of witnesses, the support of the jail,
and all charges connected therewith or relating to priso-
ners, the holding of elections, repairs and erection of
bridges, repairs of the public roads, the opening of new
roads, specifying the several sums allowed to individuals
for lands over which roads shall have been laid out, the
cost of public landings and wharfs, with all other items of
information which said commissioners may think will
have a tendency to convey general information of the
various transactions of the year, and the exact financial
condition of said county.
