an act passed at December session eighteen hundred and
thirty-one, chapter two hundred and ninety, be and the
same is hereby extended to the city of Baltimore.

CHAP. 26.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 25.

Take effect.

An act to allow Patrick O'Neill, recent collector of Frede-
rick county, further time to complete his collections.

7, 1846.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the time limited by law, within which Patrick
O'Neill, recent collector of Frederick county, should
have made his collections, be, and the same is hereby
further extended to the first day of August, in the year
eighteen hundred and forty-six.

CHAPTER 26.

Time extend-
ed.

An act to provide for the benefit of the State Witnesses,
of Carroll county.

Passed Jan.
8, 1846.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the commissioners of tax, of Carroll
county be, ami are hereby authorised and required to
levy on the assessable property of said county, at the
usual lime of making the county levy, in the year eigh-
teen hundred and forty-six, such sum of money as the
said commissioner's may deem sufficient to defray the ex-
penses which have been, or may be incurred by the at-
tendance of State witnesses at Carroll county court
during the present or previous year.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That it shall be the duty of
the said commissioners to levy as aforesaid, in the year
eighteen hundred and forty-six, and annually thereafter,
such sum of money as they may deem sufficient to pay
all the State witnesses who may be legally summoned
to testify in behalf of the State, at any county court be-
tween their annual levy.
