LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAP. 189.

sors, devises or bequests of any person or persons, bodies
corporate or politic, capable of making the same, and
the same at their pleasure, to transfer or dispose of in
such manner as they may think proper.

Corporation
may amend
by-law.
Proviso.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this corporation shall
have power to alter and amend their by-laws at pleasure;
provided, they do not conflict with the laws of the State
of Maryland, the laws of the United States, or the laws
of the Grand Lodge of Maryland.

Enure for 40
years.

SEC. 5 And be it enacted, That this act of incorpo-
ration shall enure for the period of forty years from its
passage, and that the legislature reserves to itself the right
to alter or annul this act of incorporation at pleasure.

Issues forbid.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act
shall be so taken or construed, as to allow the said cor-
poration to issue any note, token, device or scrip, to be
used as a currency.

CHAPTER 189.

Passed Feb.
26, 1846.

An act authorising Joshua C. Gist, Executor of Thomas
Barnes, of Carroll County, deceased, to convey certain
real estate in Carroll County.

Repealed.

WHEREAS, Thomas Barnes, by an article of agree-
ment dated on the fourteenth day of May, eighteen hun-
dred and forty-one, did bind himself and his heirs to
convey to Richard A. Kirkwood and his heirs, parts of
two tracts of land lying in Carroll county, called parts
of John Industry and Lawrence's Pleasant Valleys, at
and for the sum of sixty dollars; and whereas, also the
said Thomas Barnes, by bond of conveyance did bind
himself and his heirs to convey to Ezekiel Pickett and
his heirs, all that part of a tract of land situate in Carroll
county, containing ninety-one and a quarter acres of
land, more or less, at and for the sum of four hundred
and thirty-three dollars and seventy-five cents; and
whereas, the said Thomas Barnes, on the third day of
June, eighteen hundred and forty-three, made his last
will and testament, and appointed Joshua C. Gist, execu-
tor thereof, and died without revoking the same, and
without making conveyance of the said parts of tracts of
land covenanted to be conveyed to said Richard A. Kirk-
wood and Ezekiel Pickett, and the said patties not hav-
