CHAP. 21.

sued, plead and be impleaded, and have a common seal
and the same at their pleasure alter, and be entitled to
use the powers and privileges incident to such corpora-
tion.

personal pro-
perty not ex-
ceeding $20-

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said corporation
shall have power to take and hold real and personal pro-
perty not exceeding in value at any one time, the sum of
twenty thousand dollars, which property shall never be
divided among the members of the said corporation, but
shall descend to their successors to be applied for the
relief of sick and distressed members of said corporation,
the education of the children of deceased members, and
for the promotion of these objects generally.

Alter by-laws.

Proviso.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the corporation afore-
said shall have power to alter and amend the bye-laws
thereof at pleasure, provided that such alteration and
amendment do not in any way conflict with the laws of
the State of Maryland, the laws of the United States, or
the laws of the Grand Division of the Sons of Temper-
ance of the State of Maryland.

Issues forbid.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the said corporation
shall not be allowed to issue any note, token, device,
scrip or other evidence of debt, to be used as a currency.

Enure for 40
years.

ed.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That this act of incorpor-

tion shall enure for forty years from the passage thereof,
and that the Legislature reserves to itself the right to al-
ter and annul the same at pleasure.

An act to alter and change the names of Thomas Marsh
Forman Bryan, and Florida Bryan, his wife, to Tho-
mas Marsh Forman, and Florida Bryan Forman.

Names chang-
ed.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the names of Thomas Marsh Forman
Bryan, and the name of Florida Bryan his wife, be and
the same are hereby changed and altered to those of
Thomas Marsh Forman and Florida Bryan Forman, and

Forman Bryan and Florida Bryan his wife, at all times
hereafter to be called and known by and use the names
of Thomas Marsh Forman and Florida Bryan Forman,
