1845.

hereafter able and capable in law to sue and be sued,
plead and be impleaded, answer and be answered unto,
defend and be defended, in all and any court of justice,
and before all or any judges, officers or persons what-
soever, in all and singular actions, matters or demands

CHAP. 129.

whatsoever, and that it shall and may be lawful for them
to have and keep a common seal for their use, and the
same at the will and pleasure of them and their success-
ors, to change, alter and make, from time to lime, as
they shall think best; and shall, in general, have and ex-
ercise all tights and franchises, privileges and immunities,
as by law are incident or necessary to such corporations,
and what may be necessary to the corporation herein con-
stituted, to enable them fully to execute all things con-
cerning the design and intent of said corporation, and to
make such by-laws and regulations as they may find

necessary for the government of said institution; provid-
ed, the same be not contrary to the laws of this State and
of the United States.

Proviso.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said corporation
shall appoint such officers as in their discretion they may
think advisable, whose duty it shall be to receive and
take charge of all donations and subscriptions made to
the dispensary, and to apply such funds under the in-
spection of said board of directors, to furnishing medi-
cal aid to the patients contemplated to be benefited by
the same, and such other purposes as may be required.

Appoint offi-
cers.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this act of incorpora-
tion shall enure for thirty years from the date of its pas-
sage, and that the legislature reserve to itself the right
to amend or repeal said act of incorporation at pleasure.

Enure for 30
years.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act
shall be so construed as to authorise the said corporation
to issue any note, scrip, token, devise or other evidence
of debt to be used as a currency.

CHAPTER 129.

Issues forbid.

An act supplementary to an act entiled, an act to incorpo-
rate the Powhattan Tribe Number Five of the Improved
Order of Red Men of the State of Maryland, passed at
December session, eighteen hundred and forty-three.

Passed Feb.
13, 1846.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the style and title of Powhattan Tribe, Number

Name altered.
