Preamble.

CHAPTER 128.

AN Act to incorporate the Southern Dispensary of Balti-
more.

WHEREAS, in view of the rapid enlargement of the
southern portion of the city of Baltimore, a number of the
inhabitants in said city, have founded a benevolent insti-
tution, under the name of the Southern Dispensary of
Baltimore, and have petitioned the General Assembly
for an act of incorporation, to enable them more efficient-
ly to carry out the objects of. said dispensary.

Incorporated.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That John R. Kelso, Francis Foreman, A. G.
Cole, Asa Needham, John N. McJilton, George C. Ad-
dison, William S. Birch, James Hooper, jr., Charles R.
Coleman, Edward Wright, George W. Krebs, John S.
Brown, Joseph Sims, James O. Law, Alexander Carter,
John Hurst, Peter Kiernan, Beverly Waugh, J. G. Ham-
ner, Johns Hopkins, Henry F. Cook, Edward Clayton,
William Hamilton, Jacob Erl, Stephen P. Hill, William
O. Sanderson, Thomas Atkinson, C. F. Krawth, B. F. Na-
dal, L. R. Reese, Joseph Plotner, Daniel McJilton, John
Addison, John L. Battie, William Roberts, Wakeman
Bryarly, D. H. B. McClelan, George C. M. Roberts,
William W. Handy, Arthur Rich and John R. W. Dun-
bar and their successors, who shall be elected or become
contributors, from time to time be, and they are hereby
declared to be one community and corporation and body

of Baltimore, and by the same name shall have perpetual
succession, and shall and may at all times hereafter be
persons able and capable in law, to purchase, take, have
and enjoy to them and their successors, in fee, or less
estate, any lands, tenements, rents, annuities, chattels,
bank stock, registered debt or debts, public securities,
by the gift, bargain, sale or devise, of any person or

same, and the same to alien, sell, transfer or lease in such
a manner as they may judge most conducive to the ben-
efit of said dispensary; provided, that the whole amount
of property, real, personal or mixed, which the said body
politic or corporate shall at any time hold or possess,
shall not exceed in total value the sum of fifty thousand
dollars.
