CHAPTER 134

 

An act authorising Anne Levina Maria Lake, to convey
certain real and personal estate therein mentioned.

Passed Feb.
24, 1845.

WHEREAS, Anne Levina Maria Lake, of Dorchester
county, Maryland, who is now on or about eighteen years
of age, conceives herself to be entitled to a certain portion
of the real and personal estate of her deceased father, the
late Levin Lake, of said county, and her brothers William
A. Lake and James B. Lake, admit that such right possi-
bly may exist; AND WHEREAS, Mrs. Ann Maria Lake, the
mother of the said Anne Levina Maria, has given to the
said William A. Lake and James D. Lake, a bond to in-
demnify the said William A. Lake and James B. Lake,
from any claim to any part of the real and personal estate
of the said Levin Lake in consideration of the sum of two
thousand dollars, agreed to be paid by them, and the said
Anne Levina Maria, of her own free will and accord, has
by a promise in writing, pledged herself in consideration
of the said sum of two thousand dollars, agreed to be paid
to her mother and intended for her benefit, to deed all her
interest in the said real and personal estate as soon as she
is of legal age for that purpose; AND WHEREAS, all the
parties interested are anxious in good faith to each other,
that the business shall be speedily settled—Therefore,

Preamble.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the said Anne Levina Maria Lake, be and she is
hereby empowered for such consideration as may suit her
will and pleasure, to deed and convey to her said brothers,
or to any other person or persons whatsoever, all her right,
title, interest, claim and demand at law and in equity, 1o
the real and personal estate of her deceased father, the
said Levin Lake, any law of this State to the contrary
notwithstanding.
