An act for the relief Thomas B. Gwinn, Esquire, Trustee
of Elizabeth Ellen Wildman.
|
|
Hold a slave
in this State.
|
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That it shall be lawful for Thomas B. Gwinn, Esquire, of
Prince George's county, trustee of Elizabeth Ellen Wild-
man to hold and retain in this State as trustee, as a slave
for life, negro woman Rachel, who is now within this State;

Provisoes.

provided, that the said Thomas B. Gwinn, Esquire, trus-
tee as aforesaid, shall within thirty days after the passage
of this act, file with the clerk of Prince George's county
court, the name and age of said slave, with an affidavit
thereto attached, that the same is a true and faithful de-
scription of said slave, and that she has not been brought
into this State for sale, and that she is a slave for life; and
provided further, that the said Thomas B. Gwinn, Esquire,
trustee as aforesaid, shall pay to the clerk of said county
court, the sum of fifteen dollars, to be paid over by him to
the Treasurer of the Western Shore, for the use and bene-
fit of the Colonization society of this State.

An act authorising and empowering the Commissioners of
Cecil County, to levy a sum of money for building a
bridge over Basin Run, in said County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the county commissioners of Cecil coun-
ty, be and are hereby authorised and empowered at their
next annual levy, to levy on the assessable property of Cecil
county, the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars for build-
ing a bridge over Basin run, at the fording near Liberty
Grove School House, where the road from Port Deposit
to Lancaster by the way of Octoraro Forge, crosses the

said Basin run; provided however, that the said county
commissioners shall before making such levy, be fully
satisfied and shall determine that such bridge is requisite
and necessary for the convenience and wants of the citi-
zens of the said county.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That if the said county
commissioners shall deem the building of such bridge over
Basin run expedient and proper, and determine in favor
of it, after having proceeded to levy the money for build-
