An act to reduce the county expenses of Carroll County.
|

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That from and after the passage of this net,
each of the justices of the Orphans' court of Carroll coun-
ty, shall receive an allowance of one dollar and fifty cents
per day, and no more, for each and every day he shall be

present and act during the session of said court, and six
and a quarter cents, and no more, per mile as itinerant
compensation, from his place of residence in the said
county to the town of Westminster in the county afore-
said, to attend to the business of said court.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the commissioners of
the tax for Carroll county, shall be entitled to receive one
dollar and fifty cents each, and no more, for each and
every day they shall necessarily attend to the duties of

their office, and six and a quarter cents, and no more per
mile, as itinerant compensation from their place of resi-
dence in the county, to the town of Westminster, and the

clerk to the said commissioners shall be entitled to receive
such sum annually, for his services as the said commis-
sioners may allow, not exceeding the sum of three hun-
dred dollars per annum.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the judges and clerks
of elections in Carroll county, shall each of them be al-
lowed for every election at which they respectively attend
and act as judges or clerks as aforesaid, and for making
the returns of the said elections, the sum of two dollars per
day and no more, to be levied and paid as other county
charges.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the sheriff of Carroll
county, shall be entitled to receive twenty cents per day
and no more, for boarding persons in jail.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted. That all laws inconsistent
with this act, be and the same are hereby repealed.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the act entitled, an
act for the benefit of the crier of Carroll county court,
passed December session eighteen hundred and thirty-nine,
chapter three hundred and eleven, be and the same is
hereby repealed.
