CHAPTER 74.

CHAP. 75.

An act supplementary to an act entitled, an act for the
weighing of Anthracite Coal, and for the measuring of
Bituminous Coal, passed at December session, eighteen
hundred and thirty-seven, chapter three hundred and six-
teen.

13, 1845.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That from and after the passage of this act, it
shall not be lawful for any dealer in Anthracite or Bitumi-
nous coal, to sell any thereof in the city of Baltimore, un-
less the same shall have been first weighed or measured by
a weigher or measurer, engaged by or in the employment
of said dealer, and who shall have been duly sworn, the
original or copy of the oath or affirmation to be filed in the

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That any dealer in coal as
aforesaid, who shall not have the coal thus sold and dis-
posed of, weighed or measured, agreeably to the above
section, shall forfeit for every offence, recoverable before
any justice of the peace, a penalty of not less than fifteen
dollars, nor more than fifty dollars, one half thereof to go
to the informer, and the remainder to the State.

CHAPTER 75.

 

An act for the benefit of Thomas Keller, late Sheriff of
Washington County.

Passed Feb.
13, 1845.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Thomas Keller, late sheriff of Washing-
ton county, be and he is hereby authorised to collect all
fees and balances due him, or which may now be in his
hands for collection, at any time before the first day of
May, eighteen hundred and forty-six, and that for said pur-
poses, he shall be entitled to exercise all the powers now
vested in sheriffs' by law.

Time allow-
ed.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That Thomas Keller be,
and he is hereby authorised to levy and execute all writs
of fieri facias, or other species of execution, which now
may be in his hands, and to make return thereof at any
time before the November term of Washington county
court, eighteen hundred and forty-five.
