Resolution in relation to the payment of Newspapers,
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the Treasurer of the State pay to George G. Brewer, chief
clerk of the House of Delegates, and Joseph H. Nichol-
son, chief clerk of the Senate, out of any unappropriated
money in the Treasury, the amount of the several accounts
that may from time to time be presented to him by said
clerks, for newspapers furnished the members of the le-
gislature during the present session, and the members of the
Senate during the last session, and that he also pay the
amount for postage upon letters forwarded and received
by said clerks, relative to the duties of their respective
offices.

Resolution requiring the Directors on the part of the State
in the several works of Internal Improvement, to inves-
tigate the affairs of said companies, and to affect such
retrenchment as may be practicable and proper.
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the directors on the part of the State in the Baltimore and
Susquehanna Rail Road Company, and other works of in-
ternal improvement, be and they are hereby directed to
investigate the affairs of said companies, and report there-
on to the next Legislature; and also to enquire whether the
salaries of officers and other expenses of said companies
cannot be reduced with advantage to the Mate; and to
exert their power and influence to effect such retrench-
ment as may be practicable and proper.

Resolution appropriating a certain sum for defraying the
Contingent Expenses of the State.
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the sum of five thousand dollars be, and they are hereby
appropriated to defray the contingent expenses of the State,
for the year one thousand eight hundred and forty-five,
