CHAP. 308.

the State of Pennsylvania, all their right, title and interest
in certain lands in Dorchester county, adjoining the town
of Cambridge; which said lands are particularly described
in the said deed; AND WHEREAS, the acknowledgment of
the said Eliza C. Bayne to the said deed was made in
Louisiana, and is defective, because it was not made be-
fore a party properly authorised to take such acknowledg-
ment, under the laws of this State, and is also in other re-
spects defective, but the evident intention of the said deed,
as made apparent by the deed and the acknowledgments
thereto, was bona fide to convey all the right, title and in-
terest of the said Reverend Thomas Bayne and wife, in
the said lands, to the said Reverend John G. Waggaman

 

—Therefore,
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the said deed from the said Reverend
Thomas Bayne and wife, to the said Reverend John C.
Waggaman, be and the same is hereby made valid, any
law of this State to the contrary notwithstanding.

Made valid.

SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That all laws inconsistent
with this act, be and the same are hereby repealed.

Repealed.

CHAPTER 308.

 

An act relating to Sales of Property by Constables.

Passed March
10, 1845.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That from and after the First day of May next,
it shall be the duty of constables, within twenty days after
making sales of property under any writ of fieri facias or
venditioni exponas, or under any warrant to distrain, to
them directed, to return a list or lists of the property sold
by them, with the sum or sums of money for which the
same was sold, with the name or names of the purchaser
or purchasers thereof, to the levy court or commissioners
of the county or counties, in which the said sale or sales
shall take place; and upon the receipt of such list or lists,
made out and returned as aforesaid, it shall be the duty of
the said levy court or commissioners, as the case may be,
to assess to the purchaser or purchasers aforesaid, the
amount of the property so purchased by him or them as
aforesaid, upon which the direct and county taxes now
imposed by law, shall be levied and collected as the said
direct and county taxes are now required to be levied and
collected.
