Thirty days

within the time limited by law, anything to the contrary
notwithstanding,
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of
the said John R. Baden, before he proceeds to execute or
distrain the property of any person or persons for public
dues or officer's fees in virtue of this act, to deliver to such
person or persons chargeable with the same, at least thirty
days previous to the levying such execution or distress, an
account, written in words in full length, of the public dues
for officer's fees demanded of him, her or them, with an af-
fidavit annexed thereto, that he hath not received any part
thereof, nor any thing in security or satisfaction for the

same, more than the credits given, to the best of his
knowledge; provided, that nothing in this act contained,
shall be so construed to affect the estate of a deceased
person, except to authorise the said John R. Baden or
his deputies to recover any claim on balance due by a
deceased person, in the same manner that claims against
deceased persons are now recovered by law.

An act for the relief of A. St. C. Heiskell, of Prince
George's County.
|
|
May hold.
|
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That it shall be lawful for A. St. C. Heiskell, of Prince
George's county, to hold and retain in this State, as
slaves for life, certain negroes, who are now within this
|
|
Provisoes.
|
State; provided, that the said A. St. C. Heiskell shall,
within thirty days after the passage of this act, file with
the Clerk of Prince George's County Court, a list of said
slaves, with an affidavit thereto attached, that the same is
a true and faithful list of said slaves, stating their ages,
and that they have not been brought into this State for
sale, that they are slaves for life; and provided further,
that the said A. St. C. Heiskell shall pay to the clerk of
said county court the sum of fifteen dollars for each slave
between the age of twelve and forty-five years, and the
sum of five dollars for each slave under the age of twelve,
and over the age of forty-five years, to be paid over by
him to the Treasurer of the Western Shore, for the use
and benefit of the Colonization Society of this State.
