CHAPTER 38.

CHAP. 39.

A further supplement to an act to erect Baltimore town, in
Baltimore county, into a city, and to incorporate the in-
habitants thereof.

Passed Feb.
1. 1845.

WHEREAS, it is provided by the act of seventeen hun-
dred and ninety-six, chapter sixty-eight, that the mayor
of the city of Baltimore shall be elected by electors on the
third Monday of February, to serve for the term of two
years "thereafter; " AND WHEREAS, the act of seventeen
hundred and ninety-seven, chapter fifty-four, provides for
the election of said officer in manner as above, but changes
the time of his election by said electors to the first Mon-
day of November, to serve for two years "thereafter; "
AND WHEREAS, by act of eighteen hundred and thirty-two,
chapter two hundred and six, it is provided that the said
officer shall be voted for directly by the people; AND

WHEREAS, by existing act the said election is directed to be
held on the third Monday in October without a particular
designation of the time at which said Mayor shall take
his scat, thus leaving the day of his going into office a
matter of much doubt, —Therefore,

Preamble,

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the mayor of the city of Baltimore shall qualify and
proceed to the execution of the duties of his office on the
first Monday succeeding the day of his election.

Shall qualify.

CHAPTER 39.

 

An act for the. benefit of Samuel Y. Harris, administrator
of William Hance.

Passed Feb
18, 1845.

WHEREAS, it is represented that in consequence of the
recent death of William Hance, late clerk of Calvert
county, his administrator will not be able to prepare his
fee bills and place the same in the sheriffs' hands within
the time limited by law, so as to obligate the sheriff to
receive and be accountable for the same.

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That it shall and may be lawful for the said
Samuel Y. Harris, administrator of the said William
Hance, to cause the fees due to the said William Hance
at the time of his death to be made out, as now prescrib-
