CHAPTER 241.

An act to Provide for the Appointment of Justices of the
Peace, and of Constables, for Canton, in Baltimore
County.
|
Governor to
appoint two
justices of the
peace.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Governor, by and with the advice
and consent of the Senate, shall appoint two justices of
the peace, to reside in Canton, in Baltimore county; one
of whom shall be a resident of the city of Baltimore, and
the other a resident of that part of the county which lies
outside of the said city.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That Baltimore city court
shall appoint a constable to reside in Canton, but within
the limits of the city of Baltimore; and the commissioners
of Baltimore county shall appoint a constable, who shall
reside outside of the limits of the said city, and within the
limits of Canton.

An act for the relief of William Ireland, late Collector of
Calvert County,
|

lowed.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That William Ireland, late collector of Cal-
vert county, be and he is hereby allowed twelve months
from the first day of May, eighteen hundred and forty-five,
to make and complete his collections of said tax, and that
he is authorised to make said collection in the manner

prescribed by law.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the aforesaid William
Ireland, shall in every instance before he may proceed to
the aforesaid collection, make affidavit before some jus-
tice of the peace in said county, that the same remains
unpaid, and that he hath not received any security or satis-
faction for the same, or any part thereof, more than the
credits that may be allowed thereon; provided, that nothing
herein shall be construed to apply to deceased estates.
