CHAPTER 239.

CHAP. 240.

An act to authorise Thomas M. D. Baden, former Col-
lector of Prince George's County, further time to com-
plete his Collections.

Passed March
7, 1845.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Thomas M. D. Baden, former collector
of Prince George's county, be and he is hereby autho-
rised and empowered to collect any tax or balances of tax-
es, now remaining due and uncollected by him, in the
same manner as he could, or might have done within the

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this law shall not be
in force longer than one year from the passage thereof.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That that the said Thomas
M. D. Baden, before he proceeds to execute the property
of any person by the authority of this act, shall deliver or
cause to be delivered to the person or persons chargeable
with the same, and at least ten days before he shall pro-
ceed to execute as aforesaid, a particular account of the
sum demanded of him, her or them, with an affidavit
thereto annexed, that he hath not, nor hath any person
acting under him, whilst collector as aforesaid, or since

then, received any part thereof or satisfaction for the
same, to the best of his knowledge and belief; provided,
that nothing in this act contained, shall be so construed to
affect the estate of a deceased person, except to autho-
rise the said Thomas M D. Baden to recover any claim
or balance due by a deceased person, in the same manner
that claims against deceased persons are now recovered
by law.

CHAPTER 240.

 

An act to limit the number of Judges in Baltimore City
Court to Two.

Passed March
6, 1845.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That after the happening of a vacancy on the
bench of Baltimore city court, that court shall be consti-
tuted of two judges, one of whom shall be chief judge,
and the other associate judge thereof.

After vacancy
there shall be
but 2 judges.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That either or both of the
aforesaid judges shall be competent to hold the said
court, and to exercise all the powers, and to perform all
the duties appertaining thereto.
