CHAPTER 22.

Passed Jan.
24, 1845.

An act for the relief of Washington A. Posey, of Charles
County.

May hold and
retain, he.

Provisoes.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That it shall be lawful for Washington A. Posey, of
Charles county, to hold and retain in this State as slaves for
life certain negroes who are now within this State; pro-
vided, that the said Washington A Posey, shall within
thirty days after the passage of this act, file with the clerk
of Charles county court, a list of said slaves, with an affi-
davit thereto attached, that the same is a true and faithful
list of said slaves, stating their ages, and that they have
not been brought into this State for sale, that they are
slaves for life; and provided further, that the said Wash-
ington A. Posey, shall pay to the clerk of said county
court the sum of fifteen dollars, for each slave between the
age of twelve and forty-five years, and the sum of five
dollars for each slave under the age of twelve, and over
the age of forty-five years, to be paid over by him to the
Treasurer of the Western Shore for the use and benefit of
the Colonization Society of this State.

 

CHAPTER 23.

Passed Jan.
14, 1845.

An act to repeal the second section of an act passed at De-
cember session eighteen hundred and thirty-eight, chap-
ter two hundred and sixty-three.

Repealed.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the second section of the act entitled, an act autho-
rising the commissioners of Baltimore county, to appoint
trustees to the poor of said county, passed at December
session eighteen hundred and thirty-eight, be and the same
is hereby repealed.

 

CHAPTER 24.

4, 1845.

An act to make valid the acts of John Johnson and James
J. Hurley, as Justices of the Peace, for Washington

Made valid.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
