CHAPTER 478
(House Bill 79)

AN ACT to authorize the County Commissioners of Har-
ford County to levy and pay an additional sum to cer-
tain teachers of Harford County who have been or will
be retired on pension.

WHEREAS, Certain teachers of Harford County have been
or will be retired on pensions which are entirely inade-
quate; now therefore

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the County Commissioners of Harford
County are hereby authorized to pay to the following named
teachers who are now retired on pension: Cassie A. Loch-
ary, Hannah S. Parker, Abel Cromwell, Mary Gilbert
Philps PHELPS, Margaret L. Grafton, and to the following
named teachers upon their retirement: James D. Andrews
and Esther 0. Smith, a sum sufficient to make the total
amount of said pension received by each named teacher
the sum of One Hundred Dollars, ($100. 00) per month
when added to the pension paid them by the State Teachers
Retirement System. The intention of this act is to enable
the County Commissioners of Harford County to guarantee
unto said teachers in retirement a total pension of One
Hundred Dollars ($100. 00) each per month from the State
of Maryland and Harford County.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.
