890 LAWS OF MARYLAND [CH. 472

''Circuit Court", sub-heading "Court Stenographer", and
Section 49 of Article 24 of the said Code, title "Worcester
County", sub-title "Circuit Court" sub-heading "Court
Stenographer", as said sections were amended by Chapter
649 of the Acts of 1949, be and they are hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

136. (a) The salary of said stenographer shall be
[Four] Five Thousand Dollars [$4, 000] ($5, 000) per year,
the said salary to be paid as follows: The County Com-
missioners of Dorchester County, Wicomico County, Som-
erset County and Worcester County shall each pay the
sum of One Thousand Dollars thereof, said payments to be
made in quarterly installments during the service, on the
presentation of the certificate of the clerk of either county
or of either of said judges of said court, to the County
Commissioners certifying to the services of said court
stenographer. And the said County Commissioners of the
several counties are hereby directed and empowered to
provide for the payment of their several portions of the
salary of the said stenographer at once on presentation of
said certificates.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.

CHAPTER 472
(Senate Bill 583)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
464 of Article 7 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (Flack's 1930 Edition), title "Carroll County",
sub-title "Union Bridge", increasing the authority of
the Mayor and Common Council of Union Bridge to levy
taxes for General Municipal Purposes, and eliminating
unnecessary provisions therefrom.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 464 of Article 7 of the Code of Public Local
