603 (a) The County Commissioners of Prince George's
County are hereby authorized and directed to appropriate
and levy annually the sum of Ninety-nine Thousand Dollars
($99, 000) for the use of the Prince George's County Volun-
teer Firemen's Association, Incorporated, and its auxiliary
rescue squads. Said sum shall be paid annually to the
Treasurer of said Association who shall disburse $3, 000. 00
to each of the thirty-two (32) recognized volunteer fire
companies of record in the Association as of January 1,
1953, for their fire fighting and rescue activities. The
Treasurer is further directed to pay to the Chapel Oaks
Volunteer Fire Department, Incorporated, the sum of
$3, 000. 00 annually, provided said department complies
with all requirements of this Act and meets the standards
of the Prince George's County Volunteer Firemen's
Association.

(b) Said disbursements shall be only on order of the
Board of Directors of said Association to the member-com-
panies of the Association or other companies receiving
payment under this Act only for the purpose of purchasing,
repairing, housing, operating, and maintaining fire fight-
ing and rescue apparatus and equipment, and insurance,
and to encourage the formation of volunteer rescue units
as auxiliaries to member fire companies whenever and
wherever needed; provided, however, that no payment shall
be made to any fire company nor made available to any
rescue squad which has any resolution or regulation limit-
ing the territory within which it will respond to emergency
calls.

(c) Before the County Commissioners shall be required
to pay the aforesaid sum of money to the said Firemen's
Association, the Commissioners shall have the power to
require the officers of said Association to appear before
them and show to the satisfaction of said Commissioners
that all sums of money heretofore paid by the said Com-
missioners to the said Association under this sub-title have
been expended for the purposes set forth herein, and also
that all member-companies or other companies receiving
payment under this Act in accordance with prescribed
standards of the said Firemen's Association, are active fire
fighting or rescue organizations with apparatus and equip-
ment in proper working order; provided, however, that no
fire company nor rescue squad not now in existing and/or
of record in the said Association as of January 1, 1953,
may be recognized in Prince George's County without the
approval of the Prince George's County Volunteer Fire-
