ing the exhibition of motion pictures within the cor-
porate limits of Queenstown, Queen Anne's County, on
Sundays, after 2 P. M. and 8: 30 P. M. on alternate Sun-
days, to repeal all public general and public local laws
inconsistent therewith to the extent of such inconsistency
and to provide for a referendum thereon.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article 27
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title
"Crimes and Punishments", sub-title "Sabbath Breaking",
said new section to be known as Section 610C, to follow
immediately after Section 610B of said Article, and to read
as follows:

610C. Nothing contained in Sections 578 or 605 of this
Article shall be construed to prohibit or make unlawful the
exhibition within the corporate limits of the Town of
Queenstown in Queen Anne's County of motion pictures
on the first day of the week, commonly called Sunday, after
the hour of 2: 00 P. M. on June 21, 1953, and every second
Sunday thereafter and after the hour of 8: 80 P. M. on
June 28, 1953, and every second Sunday thereafter,
whether the same be exhibited with or without a charge or
admission fee, provided, however, that such exhibition
shall be subject to all provisions of law relating to licensing
and censorship applicable to motion picture exhibitions on
week days. The work or employment of any operator,
ticket seller or any other employees or attendants in con-
nection with any such exhibition of motion pictures shall
not be lawful because performed on Sundays. Any exhibi-
tion of motion pictures on Sundays, except as hereby
authorized, shall be unlawful and subject to the provisions
and penalties of said Sections 578 and 605 of this Article.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all laws and
parts of laws, whether public general or public local laws,
inconsistent with the provisions of this Act, be and the
same are hereby repealed with respect to any exhibition
authorized by Section 610C as enacted by Section 1 hereof,
to the extent of any such inconsistency.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That Sections 1 and
2 of this Act shall not become effective until they have been
submitted for adoption or rejection to the qualified voters
of Queenstown in Queen Anne's County at a special election
to be held in the Town of Queenstown prior to June 1,
1953, on a date designated by the County Commissioners
