administered for judges and clerks in elections of municipal
officers of the Town of Hampstead.
All persons who have resided within the corporate limits
of the Town of Hampstead, as well as those within the
territory proposed to be annexed by this Act, for six
months next preceding the special election, and who are
qualified to vote for delegates for the General Assembly
of Maryland, shall be eligible to vote at said special election.
Upon the closing of said polls, the said Judges and Clerk
shall canvass the said vote, publicly announce the result
of said canvass, certify the result to The Mayor and Council
of Hampstead, and deliver the ballot boxes, with the ballots
sealed therein, to The Mayor and Council of Hampstead,
who shall faithfully keep the sealed boxes for a period of
thirty (30) days after said election.
In the event that a majority of said votes cast shall be
"For Enlarging the Town Limits", then this Act shall be-
come effective and thfe territory proposed to be annexed
shall thereupon become a part of the Town of Hampstead,
but in the event that a majority of said votes cast shall be
"Against Enlarging the Town Limits", then this Act shall
be null and void and of no effect whatsoever.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sub-
section (r) of Section 38 of Article 87 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Sheriffs", sub-
title "Compensation and Duties", increasing the salary
of the Deputy Sheriff of St. Mary's County appointed
from Lexington Park.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sub-section (r) of Section 38 of Article 87
