Sanitary District in a sum not exceeding $1,000,000, for
the acquisition of trucks, automobiles and other necessary
equipment, to provide that said bonds, notes and/or cer-
tificates of indebtedness shall be guaranteed as to pay-
ment of principal and interest by the County Council of
Montgomery County and the County Commissioners of
Prince George's County, and to provide for the payment
of such bonds, notes and/or certificates of indebtedness
and the interest thereon.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That for the purpose of acquiring trucks, auto-
mobiles and other equipment necessary to enable the Wash-
ington Suburban Sanitary District to carry on its functions
more efficiently and economically, the Washington Subur-
ban Sanitary Commission is hereby authorized and em-
powered to issue under its hand and seal from time to time
in such manner as it may determine, bonds, notes and/or
certificates of indebtedness of the Washington Suburban
Sanitary District, the aggregate principal amount of which
outstanding at any one time shall not exceed One Million
Dollars ($1,000,000), such bonds, notes and/or certificates
of indebtedness to be in such denomination or denomina-
tions, to bear interest at such rate or rates not exceeding
five per centum (5%) per annum, as may be determined by
the Commission, and such bonds, notes and/or certificates
of indebtedness shall be sold in such manner as may be
determined by said Commission. All of said bonds, notes
and/or certificates of indebtedness shall be issued for
periods of not exceeding one year and may be renewed
from time to time for periods not exceeding one year, but
such bonds, notes and/or certificates of indebtedness, in-
cluding renewals thereof, shall mature and be paid in not
more than five years of the date of the original bonds,
notes and/or certificates of indebtedness. Such bonds,
notes and/or certificates of indebtedness, including interest
thereon, shall be forever exempt from taxation by the State
of Maryland and by the counties and municipalities in said
State, and said bonds, notes and/or certificates of indebted-
ness shall be guaranteed, as to the payment of principal
and interest, by the County Council of Montgomery County
and the County Commissioners of Prince George's County,
which guarantee shall be in the form and under the pro-
visions of Section 5 of Chapter 122 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of Maryland of 1918 and any amendment
thereof or any section enacted in lieu thereof.
