and power of said Board and authorizing the Mayor and
Aldermen of the City of Annapolis to levy a special Park
Fund tax.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland,
That four new sections be and they are hereby
added to the Code of Public Local Laws of Anne Arundel
County (1947 Edition), being Article 2 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, said new sections to be
known as Sections 78A, 78B, 78C and 78D, to be under a
new sub-title "Board of Recreation and Parks", and to
follow immediately after Section 78 of said Code, and to
reads as follows:

BOARD OF RECREATION AND PARKS

78A. There shall be a Board of Recreation and Parks
for the City of Annapolis consisting of five members who
shall serve without compensation. The members of said
Board shall be appointed by the Mayor and
APPROVED
BY THE Aldermen of the City of Annapolis for a term of
four years except that two members of the Board first
organized shall be appointed for terms of only two years.
The Mayor shall designate the President of the Board who
shall serve in such capacity for the term for which he has
been appointed. The Board shall elect A PRESIDENT,
a Vice-President to act in the absence of the President,
and such other officers as may be deemed advisable.

78B. The Board of Recreation and Parks shall have the
following powers and duties:

(a) to establish, maintain, operate and control parks,
zoos, squares, athletic and recreational facilities and activi-
ties for the people of the City of Annapolis, and to have
charge and control of all such property and activities be-
longing to, or conducted by, the City of Annapolis;

(b) to provide concerts, symphonies and other musical
entertainment for the people of the City of Annapolis;

(c) (B) to rent for its use buildings and other places
suitable for the conduct of the activities of the Board. The
Board is hereby authorized and empowered, with the con-
sent of any other agency of the City of Annapolis, to organ-
ize and conduct recreational activities on grounds and in
buildings under the control of such other agency and on
such conditions as may be agreed to by such other agency;

(d) to have charge and control of all monuments belong-
ing to the City of Annapolis;
