of all the duties of said office under the direction and
control of said Treasurer, and said Treasurer for Caroline
County shall be liable and responsible for all the acts and
conduct of said deputy in the handling of any books, records
or moneys of Caroline County in said office, and the said
Deputy Treasurer shall receive a salary of [Fifteen]
Eighteen Hundred Dollars [$1, 500)] ($1, 800) per annum.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1953.

CHAPTER 261
(House Bill 636)
AN ACT to add a new section to Article 11 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Frederick County", sub-title "Middletown", said new
section to be known as Section 538A, to follow imme-
diately after Section 538 of said Article, authorizing and
empowering the Burgess and Commissioners of Middle-
town to sell any property owned by the municipal corpo-
ration and no longer needed for municipal purposes.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland,. That be and there is added a new section to
Article 11 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title 'Frederick County", sub-title "Mid-
dletown", said new section to be known as Section 538A,
to follow immediately after Section 538 of said Article, and
to read as follows:
538A. The Burgess and Commissioners of Middletown
are hereby authorized and empowered to lease, sell or con-
vey as they may see fit any property, real, personal or
mixed, now owned by the said municipal corporation which,
in the judgment of the Burgess and Commissioners of
Middletown, is no longer needed for municipal purposes.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.
