moval, and such removal shall only be after a hearing
before The Mayor and Commissioners of Westernport at a
time fixed by them, should the person so charged request
a hearing during said ten day period.

661E. Before The Mayor and Commissioners of West-
ernport shall be liable for damages of any kind the person
injured or someone in his behalf shall give the Mayor or the
Town Clerk of Westernport notice in writing of such
injury within thirty days after the same has been received,
stating specifically in said notice when, where and how
the injury occurred and the extent thereof. The Mayor and
Commissioners of Westernport shall never be liable on
account of any damage or injury to person or property
arising from or occasioned by any public street, highway or
grounds, including accumulations of snow and ice on any
public work
WALK of the city unless the specific defect or
the accumulation of snow and ice causing the damage or in-
jury shall have been actually known to the Mayor or the
Superintendent of the Streets by personal inspection for a
period of at least twenty-four hours prior to the occurrence
of the injury or damage, unless the attention of the Mayor
or Superintendent of Streets shall have been called thereto
by notice thereof in writing at least twenty-four hours
prior to the occurrence of the injury or damage and proper
diligence has not been used to rectify the defect or cause
such as accumulations of snow or ice to be removed after
actually known or called to the attention of the Mayor or
Superintendent of Streets as aforesaid.

661F. All ordinances of the Town of Westernport not
inconsistent with any of the powers and provisions of this
Act heretofore passed and in effect shall be and remain in
full force and power until repealed, changed or modified
by The Mayor and Commissioners of Westernport and that
the present officers of the Town of Westernport shall
continue to hold office as such officials after the expiration
of their respective terms for which they were elected or
appointed until their successors are duly elected or ap-
pointed and qualified as provided by this Act, exercising
any and all of the powers, duties and privileges granted to
The Mayor and Commissioners of Westernport as a cor-
poration or to any of its officials to the fullest extent as set
forth in the Act. And all legal contracts, obligations,
undertakings, debts, demands, rights and privileges for or
against The Mayor and Commissioners of Westernport as
heretofore existing shall remain for or against said munici-
