133. All roads opened under the provisions of this
Article shall be at least thirty feet wide, and when opened
and sufficiently cleared, shall be public roads. Provided,
however, that the County Commissioners of Somerset
County may build portions of roads less than thirty (30)
feet wide where, in Smith's Island District and in Fair-
mount District on the road leading from the main county
highway to the village of Rumbley, in their discretion, the
difficulty or cost of building the said roads to the full width
of thirty (30) feet is unwarrantably great. Provided, fur-
ther, that the County Commissioners of Anne Arundel
County are authorized and empowered to take over and
maintain as public roads all alleys
OR ROADS in Anne
Arundel County more than 20 feet wide
20 FEET OR
MORE IN WIDTH if such road or alley has been open
or dedicated for use as a road or alley since prior to June
1, 1943.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.

CHAPTER 168
(Senate Bill 238)

AN ACT to add a new section to the Code of Public Local

Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Washington
County", sub title "Judges
Salaries", said new section

to be known as Section 116 of said Article and to follow

immediately after Section 115 thereof, Section 116 as it
originally appears in Article 22 of the Public Local Laws
of Maryland (1930 Edition), having been repealed by
Chapter 81 of the Acts of 1949, providing that the
County Commissioners of Washington County shall pay
a resident judge of the Fourth Judicial Circuit a salary
of Two Thousand Dollars ($2, 000. 00).

OF THE ANNOTATED CODE OF MARYLAND (1951
