"Vote for Four" as the case may be. Ballots shall be
printed as to give each voter a clear opportunity to desig-
nate by a cross (X) in a square at the right of the name of
each candidate, his choice of candidate. After each group
of names of candidates for each office arranged as herein
provided shall be placed blank lines with squares uniform
in size with the squares opposite the printed names of can-
didates, equal in number to the number of persons to be
elected to the particular office thereabove designated; so
that any voter may indicate in writing on the said ballot
the name of any person other than that already printed for
whom he may desire to vote for any office. Copies of the
said ballot may be printed upon colored paper, different
from the paper used for the regular ballot, but identical in
form, and publicly posted or distributed by the Clerk of the
Town of Westernport before the said election for the in-
formation of the voters. All necessary election expenses
shall be paid by The Mayor and Commissioners of Western-
port.

660. All candidates for office at any such election shall
present to the Clerk of Westernport within the time herein
set forth a petition in writing to have his name placed on
said ballot for the office designated. The said petition
shall set forth his correct name as registered, his age,
residence, whether a registered voter in Westernport and
the length of time he has lived in said town. The said
petition shall also be signed by at least twenty-five regis-
tered voters in said town. No person shall so sign or be
accepted as such upon more than one petition of a candidate
for Mayor nor upon more than four petitions of a candidate
for Commissioner. The signatures of those who sign in
excess of the permitted number shall only be recognized
and considered and taken into account as permitted in the
order filed with the Clerk. With each said petition filed
with the Clerk a filing fee of Ten Dollars ($10. 00) for the
use of The Mayor and Commissioners of Westernport shall
be paid for each candidate for Mayor and a like fee of Five
Dollars ($5. 00) for each candidate for Commissioner. The
Mayor and Commissioners of Westernport shall only cause
to be put on the official ballot the names of those candidates
who are eligible to hold the office applied for as set forth
herein and who have complied with the provisions of this
section in their application to go on said ballot.

661. In case no candidate shall file his application to go
on the official ballot as a candidate for Mayor, no election
shall be made for that particular office, and in case no
candidate shall file for Commissioner no election shall be
