and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:
46. St. Mary's County shall be divided into three com-
missioners' districts as follows: The first, second, eighth
and ninth election districts shall compose the first commis-
sioner district. The third and sixth election districts shall
compose the second commissioner district, and the fourth,
fifth and seventh election districts shall compose the third
commissioner district, and one commissioner shall be
elected as hereinafter provided by the general vote of the
county from each of said commissioner districts, who shall
serve for four years from the date of his election, and shall
be [ineligible] eligible [for four years thereafter] to suc-
ceed himself, a majority of said commissioners constituting
a quorum for the transaction of business.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.

(House Bill 263)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
72 of Article 19 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "St. Mary's County",
sub-title "Fire Companies", as said section was enacted
by Chapter 386 of the Acts of 1949, relating to the distri-
bution of funds to Volunteer Fire Departments in St.
Mary's County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 72 of Article 19 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "St.
Mary's County", sub-title "Fire Companies", as said sec-
tion was enacted by Chapter 386 of the Acts of 1949, be and
it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:
72. The County Commissioners are authorized to pay
annually from general county funds to each active volun-
