the residents of said Town that there shall be held on the
day to be named between the hours named in Paragraph A
of this section, a referendum to determine whether or not
said residents desire the territory heretofore described to
be annexed to the Town of Morningside. The aforesaid
Supervisors of Elections shall provide a polling place,
ballot boxes, booths, and ballots for said referendum, the
cost thereof to be paid by the Town of Morningside, which
is hereby authorized to pay the same. The said ballots to
contain the words "For annexation to the Town of Morn-
ingside" on one line and "Against annexation to the Town
of Morningside" on another line, with a square opposite
each. All qualified voters desiring to vote for annexation
shall place a cross mark (X) in the square opposite the
words "For annexation to the Town of Morningside" and
all qualified voters* desiring to vote against annexation
shall place a cross mark (X) in the square opposite the
words "Against annexation to the Town of Morningside".

The said Supervisors of Elections, before undertaking
to perform the duties of their office, are to subscribe to the
same oath as is now required for them in any municipal
election of officers of the Town of Morningside. Every
citizen of the United States who has attained the age of
twenty-one years and who is an owner of property within
the limits of the proposed area to be annexed shall be
eligible to vote in this referendum upon subscribing before
a member of the Board of Election Supervisors, an oath
as provided in Section 2, Sub-section "G" of the Charter
of the Town of Morningside.

Upon closing said polls the said Supervisors of Elections
shall count the ballots and publicly announce the results of
their canvass certifying the results to the Town of Morn-
ingside, the Supervisors of Elections of Prince George's
County, and the Secretary of State of Maryland, and
said Supervisors of Elections shall faithfully seal and keep
the ballot boxes for a period of thirty days after said refer-
endum.

In the event of majority of said votes cast being in favor
of the annexation of the territory herein described to the
Town of Morningside, such territory shall be annexed to
and become a part of the said Town of Morningside, pro-
vided, however, that in the event a majority of the votes
in said area in the aforesaid referendum is cast against
annexation to the Town of Morningside, then this Act shall
be null and void and of no effect whatever.
