CHAPTER 88
(House Bill 116)
AN ACT to extend the limits of the Town of Morningside,
a municipal corporation, by including therein a part of
Prince George's County contiguous thereto and provid-
ing that all existing laws relating to and all existing laws
passed by the Town Council of Morningside be extended
to cover and apply to such annexed territories and pro-
viding for a referendum thereon.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That there is hereby annexed to the territory of
the Town of Morningside all the adjacent and contiguous
territories in Prince George's County, Maryland, known as
the second addition to Upper Morningside, as recorded in
Plat Book WWW 19 at Folio 55, saving and excepting the
thirty-five foot public dedication adjoining Mayhew Road.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That except as here-
inafter otherwise provided, all existing laws relating to the
Town of Morningside and all existing ordinances passed
by the Town of Morningside are hereby extended and here-
after cover and apply to said annexed territories as fully
as if said annexed territories would be a part of said Town
of Morningside at the time of passage of such laws and
ordinances, except that municipal taxes shall not be levied
until the effective date of this Act.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, A. That for the pur-
pose of determining whether the residents of the territory
hereinabove described desire the same to be annexed to the
Town of Morningside, there shall be held a referendum
in the Town of Morningside between the hours of 9: 00
A. M. and 10: 00 P. M., on such day as the Board of Elec-
tion Supervisors of the Town of Morningside shall, by a
majority vote, determine.
B. That before ten days of said referendum, including
Sundays and holidays, said Board of Election Supervisors
shall post in three public places within the limits of said
second addition to tipper Morningside, a notice notifying
