1850 JOINT RESOLUTIONS

mum salaries, and salary increments, of school teachers
under the foundation program of public education; and


WHEREAS, This report has received favorable comments
from various groups within and without the State, from
those concerned about and those connected with the educa-
tion of every child in this State; and


WHEREAS, Study and re-evaluation should be made of
other phases of the public school system of this State, in-
cluding the curriculum; the extent to which all children
should have an equal opportunity for general education; the
opportunities for education prior to entrance to elementary
school; the opportunities for vocational education, special
education, and training in adult classes; the general welfare
of teachers; the physical facilities for public education; and
such other aspects of public school education as may be
desirable to study, PARTICULARLY THE CIRCUM-
STANCES SURROUNDING THE RECENT OVEREX-
PENDITURE OF CURRENT AND BUILDING FUNDS
BY THE BOARD OF EDUCATION IN CALVERT
COUNTY;
now, therefore, be it


Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Governor of Maryland, the President of the Senate, and
the Speaker of the House of Delegates be requested jointly
to continue the functioning of the Commission which was
appointed during the month of June, 1952, to study and
re-evaluate the public school system of this State, PAR-
TICULARLY THE CIRCUMSTANCES SURROUNDING
THE RECENT OVEREXPENDITURE OF CURRENT
AND BUILDING FUNDS BY THE BOARD OF EDUCA-
TION IN CALVERT COUNTY; and be it further


Resolved, That said Commission shall have the use in its
work of such funds as may be provided therefor in the
budget or as may be allocated thereto by the Governor from
contingent funds at his disposal; and be it further

Resolved, That all departments and agencies of the State
government be directed to extend such co-operation and
assistance to the said Commission as may be in their
power; and be it further


Resolved, That if for any reason any member of said
Commission cannot continue to serve on said Commission,
the Governor of the State, and the President of the Senate
and the Speaker of the House of Delegates of the General
