(Senate Joint Resolution 19)
Senate Joint Resolution requesting the Department of Pub-
lic Improvements, the Board of Public Works and the
Budget Bureau Engineers to study the present heating
system in the Court of Appeals Building and the State
House in Annapolis and to take remedial steps so that
the excessive heat which now prevails may be corrected.
WHEREAS, The Court of Appeals Building and the State
House in Annapolis are being maintained at a degree of
heat which is not consistent with the good health of those
persons who necessarily must occupy said buildings for long
periods of time during the day; and
WHEREAS, The excessive heat causes very great discom-
fort especially in crowded rooms; and
WHEREAS, There is a great deal of waste of heat and thus
the taxpayer's money because of the oppressive degree of
heat maintained in said buildings; now therefore be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the Department of Public Improvements, the Board of Pub-
lic Works and the Budget Bureau Engineers be requested
to take immediate steps to remedy the overheating of the
Court of Appeals Building and the State House in Annap-
olis in order to remedy the present situation and save funds
presently expended for heating; and be it further
Resolved, That the Secretary of State be and he is here-
by requested to send a copy of this resolution to the
Governor of Maryland, to the Department of Public Im-
provements, to the Board of Public Works, to the Budget
Bureau Engineers and to the Superintendent of Public
Buildings and Grounds.
