sixty percent., and the portion to be disbursed to the other
fire companies shall be forty percent, as shown in Sub-
section (e).

(d) During the next succeeding two-year period, the por-
tion of the total annual tax proceeds to be disbursed to the
Chillum-Adelphi Volunteer Fire Department, Inc., shall be
sixty-five percent., and the portion to be disbursed to the
other fire companies shall be thirty-five percent, as shown
in Sub-section (e).

(e) During each tax year, the portions of the annual tax
proceeds disbursed to the organizations other than the
Chillum-Adelphi Volunteer Fire Department, Inc., shall be
disbursed in five individual shares, as follows:

Mt. Rainier Volunteer Fire Department........ 25 percent.

Brentwood Volunteer Fire Department........ 25 percent.

Hyattsville Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. 25 percent.
College Park Volunteer Fire Depart., Inc..... 15 percent.

Riverdale Volunteer Fire Department, Inc..... 10 percent.

(f) The fire tax provided by this section and Section 603A
shall be effective commencing July 1, 1953, and shall be
charged against the properties concerned for the taxable
year 1953.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That before any tax
shall be levied under the provisions of this Act, the ques-
tion of such levy shall first be submitted to the legally quali-
fied voters who will be subject to and liable for the payment
of the tax herein provided at a special election to be held in
May OCTOBER, 1953, on a date to be set at the discretion
of the County Commissioners. There shall be printed on
the ballots to be used at said election the title of this Act
and underneath said title, on separate lines, a square or
box to the right of and opposite the words "For Fire Tax",
and a corresponding square or box to the right of and
opposite the words "Against Fire Tax", so that the voters
shall be able to designate by a cross-mark in the proper
square or box his or her decision for or against said fire
tax. If a majority of the votes cast in any of said voting
precincts or part thereof shall be "For Fire Tax", then said
tax shall be levied and paid over in accordance with the
provisions of the Act, but if a majority of the votes cast
shall be "Against Fire Tax", then this Act shall be of no
effect and shall be null and void.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the
