SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.

CHAPTER 736
(House Bill 808)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
4 of Article 48A of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1951 Edition), title "Insurance", sub-title "Insurance
Department", relating to the compensation of the Insur-
ance Commissioner.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland,
That Section 4 of Article 48A of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Insurance", sub-
title "Insurance Department", be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

4. (Qualifications; Compensation; Bond. ) No person
who is a director, officer or agent of, or directly, or in-
directly interested in any insurance company, except as
an assured, shall be eligible for appointment as commis-
sioner. He shall give bond to the State of Maryland in the
penalty of Fifty Thousand Dollars for the faithful per-
formance of the duties of his office, and shall receive an
annual compensation of [Seventy-five Hundred Dollars
($7, 500)] Twelve Thousand Dollars ($12, 000) TEN
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($10, 000. 00, AND HE SHALL
DEVOTE FULL TIME TO HIS POSITION.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.
