County (1943 Edition), being Article 17 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Prince George's
County", sub-title "County Commissioners", said section
having been amended by Chapter 567 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of Maryland of 1951, relating to the
powers and duties of the County Commissioners for
Prince George's County and to the administration of the
County government in Prince George's County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 381 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Prince George's County (1943 Edition), being
Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland,
title "Prince George's County", sub-title "County Commis-
sioners", said section having been amended by Chapter 567
of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1951,
be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:
381[A]. (a) There shall be five County Commissioners
for Prince George's County, elected for a term of four
years, and they shall be known by the corporate style of
"County Commissioners for Prince George's County", here-
inafter referred to as the Board. The said Board shall
elect a presiding officer to serve during his term of office
who shall devote his full time to the duties of his office,
and shall have, subject to the direction of and review by the
Board, administrative supervision over all departments and
employees of the County government. The presiding of-
ficer shall receive an annual salary of Seven Thousand Five
Hundred Dollars and each of the other four commissioners
shall receive an annual salary of Three Thousand Six
Hundred Dollars, as full compensation for their official
duties as Commissioner or in any ex officio capacity. The
presiding officer shall be designated as the President, but
may adopt the title of Chairman for any purpose for which
the use of such title is appropriate. County Commission-
ers shall take office on the first Tuesday of December
following their election.
(b) The Board shall regularly meet at least two days a
week as County Commissioners, in addition to such meet-
ings as it may hold as the District Council of the Maryland-
National Capital Park & Planning Commission. It shall
have all the power and authority now or hereafter granted
to it by law, [subject to the provisions of this Act], and
in addition, may, [shall] by resolution, ordinance, or other
appropriate action:
