of the commitment, and in the same manner and under the
same regulations as persons committed for a violation of
laws of the State.

764S. In cases in which any person shall be found guilty
of violating any ordinance of the corporation, it shall and
may be lawful for the magistrate trying said cause, upon
the conviction of the offender, to impose the fine prescribed
by the particular ordinance under which said person was
tried, and upon failure or refusal of the party convicted
thereof to pay such fines and costs, to commit him to the jail
of Frederick County, for the time prescribed by the said
ordinance, unless he shall pay such fines and costs before
the day limited in such commitment, in which case the
magistrate who has directed such commitment shall issue
his order to the sheriff of said county to release such per-
son; but such commitment shall not continue for more
than thirty days.

764T. (a) The Board of Commissioners shall have power
to establish the limits and width of the streets and alleys
of the said village, and remove obstructions therefrom, and
may, with the consent of one-half of the owners of the prop-
erty through which they may pass, open new streets, lanes
or alleys. The Board of Commissioners shall have power
to provide for the payment of damages and expenses of
opening, widening, laying out and grading the streets, lanes
and alleys in said village, by levying and assessing the same
generally upon the whole of the assessable property, or
especially upon the assessable property of persons benefited
thereby.

(b) If on the opening or laying out of any new street,
lane or alley, the said commissioners cannot agree with the
owner of any land or property wanted for the purposes,
for the purchase, use or occupation of the same, they may
institute condemnation proceedings as provided in the Pub-
lic General Laws of Maryland and such proceedings shall
be governed in all respects by the Public General Laws of
Maryland.

764U. The Board of Commissioners shall have full power
and authority to designate the line, width and location of
all sidewalks and gutters within the corporate limits of the
Town of Thurmont and to grade and pave the same, and
compel parties on streets already graded within the corpo-
rate limits of said town to pave such sidewalks or gutters,
and shall have full authority to designate the material
with which said sidewalks or gutters, including curbing, are
