(c) The term "non-resident junk dealer" or "non-resi-
dent junk dealer's agent" shall include all persons and
firms who or which act as junk dealers or junk dealers*
agents who are non-residents of Maryland.

241. (License Required. ) (a) No person within the State
of Maryland, except within the City of Baltimore, shall
engage in the business of resident junk dealer or resident
junk dealer's agent without a license therefor, which li-
cense shall be issued as provided in this sub-section.

(b) The annual license fee to act as a resident junk
dealer shall be Ten Dollars ($10. 00) and as a junk dealer's
agent shall be Five Dollars ($5. 00); to act as a "non-resi-
dent junk dealer" or a "non-resident junk dealer's agent"
who buys or solicits for the purchase of junk within the
State of Maryland shall be One Hundred Dollars ($100. 00).

(c) No non-resident junk dealer shall be permitted to
maintain a fixed place of business within the State but may
purchase junk from any registered resident junk dealer
without complying with the provisions as above outlined;
but if said non-resident junk dealer comes into the State
of Maryland in any vehicle, said non-resident junk dealer
shall not be permitted to transport from this State in said
vehicle any junk purchased within this State unless there
is compliance with this sub-title.

(d) Every resident and non-resident junk dealer or
agent desiring a license in compliance with this sub-title
shall certify to the Clerk of the Circuit Court of the County
in which the junk yard is located, or in which he does
business, his name and business address. The Clerk of the
Court, upon payment of the proper fees, shall issue such
licenses numerically and shall maintain a record setting
forth the name and address of the licensee, and the num-
ber of the license, and shall collect therefor an issuing fee
of $. 50 per license. Such licenses shall not be devisable
and shall not be transferable.

242. (Purchase—Books to be Kept. ) (a) It shall be un-
lawful for any resident junk dealer or agent or any non-
resident junk dealer or agent as herein defined to barter,
purchase, exchange, buy or accept from any person, firm
or corporation any junk as herein defined, without provid-
ing and keeping books and making therein at the time of
such purchase, exchange, receipt or acceptance, the entries
hereinafter provided.
