censes", to be known as Sections 240 to 344 245, inclusive,
to follow immediately after Section 239 of said Article,
to be under the new sub-title "Junk Dealers", making it
unlawful for any junk dealer, or his employee, to buy
or accept goods within the State of Maryland, except in
the City of Baltimore, without obtaining a license and
providing and keeping books, in which he shall record
a description of all articles purchased, the name and
residence of the person from whom such purchase was
made, and the day and hour of such purchase, such books
to be open to the inspection of police officers at all times;
and providing for a penalty for violation thereof; AND
PROVIDING THAT NOTHING IN THIS SUB-TITLE
SHALL APPLY OR BE EFFECTIVE IN THE CITY
OF BALTIMORE, OR IN BALTIMORE, CARROLL,
CAROLINE, WASHINGTON, SOMERSET, PRINCE
GEORGE'S, ANNE ARUNDEL, KENT, WORCESTER,
FREDERICK, DORCHESTER, TALBOT, CALVERT
OR MONTGOMERY COUNTIES.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland,
That five SIX new sections be and they are
hereby added to Article 56 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1951 Edition), title "Licenses", to be known as Sec-
tions 240 to 244 245, inclusive, to follow immediately after
Section 239 of said Article, to be under the new sub-title
"Junk Dealers", and to read as follows:

JUNK DEALERS

240. (Definitions. ) (a) The term "junk" as used in this
section shall mean all goods, articles or things consisting
in whole or in part of aluminum, babbits, brass, bronze,
copper (Light and Heavy), lead, low carbon, chrome, low
carbon manganese, molybdenum, monel metal, pewter,
nickel, tin, vanadium, and zinc, and all stoves, ranges,
plumbing fixtures and supplies, electrical fixtures, or wir-
ing, gas fixtures or appliances, water faucets, pipe, locks,
and all-used railroad equipment, farm machinery or any
other like material.

(b) The term "resident junk dealers" shall mean all per-
sons who are residents of the State of Maryland engaged
in the business of buying or selling "junk" as herein de-
fined. The term "resident junk dealer's agent" shall mean
every person who buys or sells junk as hereinafter defined
for or on behalf of any resident junk dealer but shall not
include any person regularly employed upon a salary by
a regularly licensed resident junk dealer in the State of
Maryland.
