appoint such assistant Town Clerks as it may deem
necessary.

72. (Oath) Before entering upon the duties of his, her
or their respective office, the Town Clerk, Deputy Town
Clerk and Assistant Town Clerks shall make the declara-
tion of religious belief and take and subscribe the oath set
forth in the Constitution of Maryland before the Town
Commissioner designated as President and the same shall
be recorded in the minutes of the proceedings of the Town
Commissioners.

73. (Bond) And before entering upon the duties of his,
her or their respective office, the Town Clerk, Deputy
Town Clerk and Assistant Town Clerks shall give bond to
the State of Maryland with such sureties as the Town
Commissioners may approve and in the penal sum of Five
Thousand Dollars ($5000. 00), conditioned for the faithful
and proper collection, accounting and disbursement of all
moneys of said Town and for the faithful performance of
all other duties devolving upon him, her or them; such
bond to be acceptable whether given individually or by all
of said Clerks as a "blanket" surety bond and the expense
of which shall be borne by the Town.

74. (Duties of Town Clerk) The Town Clerk shall
attend every meeting of the Town Commissioners and keep
the minutes and proceedings of such meetings in a well-
bound book reserved for that purpose. He shall perform
such other and further duties as may be prescribed by
ordinance, order of the Town Commissioners or by this
Charter, and he shall be the Collector of Taxes of the
Town.

75. (Duties of Deputy and Assistant Town Clerks) The
Deputy Town Clerk shall have and exercise all of the
powers and duties of the Town Clerk when the Town Clerk
is unable to perform the same by reason of sickness, ab-
sence or for any other reason, and shall perform such other
and further duties as may be prescribed by order of the
Town Commissioners.

The Assistant Town Clerks, in the order of their
seniority, shall have and exercise all of the powers and
duties of the Town Clerk when the Town Clerk and Deputy
Town Clerk are unable to perform the same by reason of
sickness, absence or for any other reason, and shall per-
form such other and further duties as may be prescribed
by order of the Town Commissioners.
