the Town of Washington Grove now outstanding or here-
after to be issued, in the same manner and form and at
the same rate of taxation as property of similar character
or description within the former limits of said Town.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.

AN ACT to repeal Section 38 (g) of Article 87 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title
"Sheriffs", sub-title "Compensation and Duties", and to
enact in lieu thereof a new section, to be known as
Section 38 (g) and to follow immediately after Section
38 (f) of said Article, prescribing the compensation of
the Sheriff and Deputy Sheriffs of Cecil County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 38 (g) of Article 87 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Sheriff s", sub-
title "Compensation and Duties", be and it is hereby re-
pealed and that a new section be and it is hereby enacted in
lieu thereof, to be known as Section 38 (g) and to follow
immediately after Section 38 (f) of said Article, and to
read as follows:
38.
(g) The Sheriff of Cecil County shall receive an annual
Salary of $3, 500. $3, 500 AND $400 FOR EXPENSES.
COMMENCING WITH THE BEGINNING OF THE
NEXT TERM OF OFFICE, THE SHERIFF OF CECIL
COUNTY SHALL RECEIVE AN ANNUAL SALARY
OF $4, 000, AND NO ALLOWANCE FOR EXPENSES
EXCEPT AS HEREINAFTER PROVIDED. The Sheriff
shall appoint a First Deputy Sheriff, who shall receive an
annual salary of $2, 600; and a Second Deputy Sheriff, who
