CHAPTER 563
(House Bill 826)

AN ACT to authorize and empower the Mayor and City
Council of Laurel, Prince George's County, to borrow an
amount not to exceed Thirty-five Thousand Dollars
($35, 000. 00), the proceeds to be used for the purchase of
land in the Town of Laurel and the improvement of the
same for use as a public, off-street parking lot; authoriz-
ing the Mayor and City Council of Laurel to install
meters on such parking lot, to fix charges for use of said
lot, and to adopt by ordinance any regulations necessary
for the proper operation of the same, to provide for the
enforcement of such regulations and to provide for the
use of the revenue arising from the operation of said
lot; providing for the levy of taxes on all property sub-
ject to taxation in the Town of Laurel to pay the
principal and interest of such indebtedness; and pro-
viding for a referendum thereon.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland,
That the Mayor and City Council of Laurel,
Prince George's County, be and it is hereby authorized and
empowered to borrow on the full faith and credit of said
Town an amount not to exceed Thirty-five Thousand Dol-
lars ($35, 000. 00), and to issue its bonds therefor, the pro-
ceeds to be used for the purpose of purchasing land in the
Town of Laurel for use as a public, off-street parking lot,
and improving said land for such use by doing any neces-
sary grading, hard-surfacing, or other improvements re-
quired to fit it for use as a parking lot, and by installing
parking meters on said lot, and for the payment of all
incidental costs in connection therewith, the said amount
so borrowed to be used for no other purposes whatsoever,
except that all costs in connection with the issuance and
sale of said bonds, including legal fees, advertising and any
other incidental expenses may be paid therefrom.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the Mayor and
City Council of Laurel is hereby authorized by proper or-
dinance to fix the charges for the use of said lot, and to
